About this Event

Moving beyond the static diversity and inclusion statement, destinations and event professionals must now begin the difficult process of effecting change within their organizations, the destinations they represent and the events they manage.

Join the Virginia Tech Richmond Center for an engaging, interactive, and honest conversation about how we move from acknowledging that diversity and inclusion is important, to making the necessary long-term changes needed to actually be diverse and inclusive with our guests, our workforce and our leadership. Liz Fillman, Assistant Director for the Virginia Tech Richmond Center will be joined by Department Head and Professor Dr. Nancy McGehee and moderators, Dr. Kristin Lamoureux, Visiting Professor, and PhD student and author of STAMPED: The Study Abroad Podcast Charis Tucker from the Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Virginia Tech. Our panelists include: Rita McClenny, President and CEO, Virginia Tourism Corporation, Monica Smith, President and CEO, Southeast Tourism Society, and Roni Weiss,Executive Director, Travel Unity.
