Scholarships

The Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association has a long tradition of recognizing talented students who are entering Virginia Tech for the first time through our scholarship program. The Scholarship Committee’s mission is to provide annual scholarships as well as grow our endowment to provide opportunities for future generations of Hokies. Through the generous contributions of the RVA Career Expo, the Central Virginia Wine Festival, and generous alumni the Richmond Hokies will be pleased to award seven $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors and two $2,500 scholarships for college transfer students from the Richmond area enrolling at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2017. Selections will be based on essay responses, academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular involvement, and community service.

The application submission period for the 2017-18 scholarships will open in early April 2017. Our scholarship application can be either electronically submitted or downloaded and printed when it is made available in early April. Please complete all sections and submit/postmark by Monday, May 1, 2017. Successful applicants will be notified in late May. At the end of the summer we will host a send-off picnic for the entire incoming freshman class from the Richmond area where we will recognize this year’s scholarship recipients. Please be aware we will send out invitations by e-mail at a later date for you and your family. All new Hokies, families and alumni are invited to come. On behalf of our Virginia Tech alumni chapter, I hope each of you will join us.

We wish you the best of luck and look forward to welcoming you as a member of the Virginia Tech Class of 2021!
